Dr. Arun Kumar

Dr. Arun Kumar is a Staff Physician and Section Head of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Hospital Care Institute. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine in Ohio. With 25 years of experience, he has worked as a Consultant Cardiac Anesthesiologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City for four years and spent five years as a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the University Hospital of Wales.

Dr. Kumar specializes in anesthesia management for cardiac and thoracic procedures, including heart and lung transplants, and has particular expertise in transesophageal echocardiography—a specialized ultrasound technique used during heart surgery to monitor the heart in real-time. He is actively involved in training medical students and residents, and regularly presents at national and international medical meetings on transesophageal echocardiography and how to manage cardiac risks during non-cardiac surgery.

He holds advanced certifications from both the US National Board of Echocardiography and the British Society of Echocardiography, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in London.
