Dr. Nikolaos Koutsostathis, MD, PhD

Dr. Nikolaos Koutsostathis is a double board-certified Allergist and Clinical Immunologist with over 16 years of experience treating allergic and immune conditions in adults and children. He trained at leading hospitals in Athens and Saudi Arabia, earning his medical degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a PhD in hereditary angioedema from the University of Thessaly. He holds the European Certificate of Excellence from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and specialist certifications across the European Union. Since 2020, he has worked as a Consultant Allergist in Dubai and holds full licensure to practice in the UAE.

Dr. Koutsostathis diagnoses and treats a wide range of allergic diseases including hay fever, asthma, chronic hives, angioedema, food and drug allergies, and eczema. His clinical skills include allergy skin testing, spirometry lung-function testing, food and drug challenge tests, allergy immunotherapy (both injection and under-the-tongue forms), and specialized desensitization for complex cases. He is an expert in biologic therapies such as omalizumab for severe allergies and hives, advanced treatments for hereditary angioedema, and management of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). He also investigates rare conditions such as high eosinophil counts, mastocytosis, and exercise-induced anaphylaxis.

Dr. Koutsostathis combines clinical excellence with academic leadership. He chairs the Hellenic Society of Angioedema and serves as treasurer of the Hellenic Scientific Society for Rare Diseases. He has published 10 peer-reviewed papers and presented at major European and international allergy congresses, receiving awards for his research.
