Dr. Vikram Lal

Dr. Vikram Lal is a Fellow and Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and completed specialist training (CCT in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and General Internal Medicine) in the UK's Northeast. He brings over 20 years of experience from secondary and tertiary NHS hospitals, now consulting at Burjeel Abu Dhabi. His practice spans the full breadth of endocrinology: all forms of diabetes (including insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring management), obesity and weight management, thyroid conditions (including pregnancy-related), pituitary and adrenal disorders, reproductive hormone issues, and metabolic bone disease.

Dr. Lal has made several meaningful clinical contributions beyond routine care. He developed the North East Ambulance Service Steroid Alert Card for patients with adrenal insufficiency and created quick-reference guides for managing adrenal crises. He updated diabetes management guidelines for endoscopy and revised emergency diabetes protocols during his NHS career. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences, and contributed to the 2017 UEMS European Endocrine Training Curriculum update.

He is a strong educator with a track record in medical training, having led the Endocrine Teaching Committee in the North East Deanery.
