Dr. Qasim Aref Qasem

Dr. Qasim Aref Qasem is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 23 years of clinical experience. He is registered with both the Irish and British Medical Councils and holds fellowship status from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow. He is also certified in refractive (laser corrective) eye surgery by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London and holds European Board certification in ophthalmology. Since 2012, Dr. Qasem has practiced in the UAE, and he previously worked at several respected hospitals in the United Kingdom and Ireland for more than 12 years.

Dr. Qasem specializes in two main areas: pediatric (children's) eye care and vitreoretinal surgery (treatment of the back of the eye). He is skilled in pediatric conditions including childhood eye movement disorders, squint (eye turn) correction, and vision screening for premature babies. In vitreoretinal work, he performs advanced combined sutureless cataract-retinal surgery techniques, particularly for patients with diabetic eye disease. He is also a certified aviation medicine eye specialist for pilots.

Dr. Qasem has published over 25 articles in international peer-reviewed medical journals and has been an invited speaker at major international eye surgery conferences. He is known for combining surgical expertise with a research-focused approach to patient care.
