Dr. Imran Jawaid

Dr. Imran Jawaid is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 15 years of experience in eye care, trained and practised across the United Kingdom before joining King's College Hospital London (Dubai). He holds dual qualifications as both a medical doctor (MBChB from University of Leicester, 2010) and an optometrist, and completed his specialist eye training with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2020. Most recently, he led the ophthalmology service at Nottingham University Hospitals, a major NHS centre for complex eye referrals.

Dr. Jawaid specialises in children's eye problems and eye muscle disorders (strabismus), having completed advanced training in paediatric ophthalmology at Birmingham Children's Hospital. He manages conditions including myopia (short-sightedness), childhood cataracts, eye muscle misalignment in children and adults, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and amblyopia (lazy eye). He has a particular interest in myopia management and related childhood eye conditions, and brings research expertise from studies on myopia, diabetic eye swelling, and emergency eye care.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Jawaid is an active educator who has taught at UK medical schools and contributed to ophthalmology textbooks. He is well-suited for families seeking specialist assessment of children's eye development, eye muscle problems, or complex paediatric eye conditions.
