Dr. Azza Ismail

Dr. Azza Ismail is a Consultant Neurologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi with 20 years of clinical experience. She completed her neurology training in Sheffield, UK, and earned her Ph.D. in 2016 with research focused on gene therapy for motor neurone disease. She is a member of the General Medical Council and Royal College of Physicians (UK) and the Association of British Neurologists.

Dr. Ismail specializes in treating multiple sclerosis and related disorders, headache disorders, epilepsy, and motor neurone disease. She has worked with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and is particularly knowledgeable about the impact of these conditions on pregnant women and women's health. Her main research interests include neuroinflammation in MS, clinical trials for MS treatment, stem cell transplantation for autoimmune neurological disease, and women's health in MS. She serves as a Principal Investigator in several clinical trials and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Ismail led the Neurology Training Programme (2020–2025) for foundation and internal medicine trainees, demonstrating her commitment to medical education and mentorship. She has received multiple prestigious national awards recognizing her contributions to neurology and MS care.
