Dr. Firas Raouf Alani

Professor Dr. Firas Alani is a consultant interventional cardiologist at American Hospital Dubai, where he joined in September 2019 as Chairman of the American Hospital Academic Institute. He brings 12 years of clinical experience in cardiology from the United States, where he trained at leading institutions including Drexel University and Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Alani earned his medical degree from Al Mustansiryiah University in Baghdad, Iraq in 1993, and completed his internal medicine residency at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey.

Dr. Alani specializes in minimally invasive heart and vascular procedures, particularly complex coronary interventions and structural heart disease treatment. His expertise includes transcatheter valve implantation (TAVI and TMVI), left atrial appendage closure (Watchman procedure), carotid artery stenting, and endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms. He holds six American Board certifications in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, endovascular interventions, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Alani has been deeply involved in medical education and clinical research. He served as co-director of the Cardiopulmonary Course at Central Michigan University College of Medicine for six years and was granted full professorship in cardiovascular medicine in 2019. He has been the principal investigator on more than 20 international clinical trials and published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals. A respected speaker at international conferences including the American Heart Association, he is passionate about delivering cutting-edge cardiac care to his patients.
