Dr. Chanshik Shim

Dr. Chanshik Shim is a consultant neurosurgeon at King's College Hospital London (Dubai) with over three decades of experience in spinal neurosurgery. He trained in neurosurgery at Kyung-Hee University Hospital in Seoul, Korea (1991–1995) and holds both a Master's degree and Ph.D. in medicine from Kyung-Hee University. He is board certified in neurosurgery in Korea (1996) and holds certification from the American Academy of Minimally Invasive Spinal Medicine and Surgery (2002).

Dr. Shim specialises in minimally invasive spine procedures, including keyhole disc surgery, spinal fusion, artificial disc replacement, and laser-assisted techniques. His work focuses on treating degenerative spine conditions, herniated discs, stenosis (narrowing of the spine), and spondylolisthesis (vertebral slippage). He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has received international recognition, including the Sadahisa Hijikata Award at the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery (2008) and the Leon Wiltse Award for Best Overall Paper from the Spine Arthroplasty Society (2006).

Dr. Shim is an active member of major international spine societies and holds leadership positions in professional organisations, including membership on the Board of Directors of the Korean Neurosurgical Society. He is fluent in Korean and English.
