Dr. Sridhar Kalyanasundaram

Dr. Sridhar Kalyanasundaram is a consultant neonatologist at Mediclinic Al Jowhara in Al Ain, with over 25 years of clinical experience. He completed his medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India in 1995 as the top-ranked graduate, and trained in pediatrics and neonatology at leading Indian institutions (JIPMER and PGIMER). He obtained his MRCPCH qualification from the UK in 2005 and his Fellowship (FRCPCH) in 2006. He worked as a consultant in a level 3 neonatal unit in Scotland from 2005 to 2012 before moving to the UAE, where he has held leadership roles including head of neonatology at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.

Dr. Sridhar specializes in caring for high-risk newborns from 30 weeks gestation onwards, with particular expertise in respiratory support, ventilation strategies, and neurodevelopmental assessment. He performs the full range of neonatal procedures including central line placement, brain ultrasounds, and cooling therapy for newborns with asphyxia. He also advises on nutrition, skin care, and infant development in the first year of life.

He is an active educator and examiner, serving as President of the National Neonatology Forum (India) Emirates chapter and as an instructor for neonatal life support training. He is well-published in peer-reviewed journals and brings a combined approach blending international best practice with individualized care for vulnerable newborns.
