Dr. Shanitha Fathima

Dr. Shanitha Fathima is a Specialist Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital in Dubai. She trained in India, completing her medical degree at Government Medical College in Kannur and her Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Kasturba Medical College (Manipal University) in Mangalore. She holds a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery from the Sunrise Institute of Medical Sciences. Before relocating to the UAE, she worked as an Assistant Professor at MES Medical College in India, where she gained extensive clinical experience and taught medical students. In Dubai, she has worked as a Consultant at several leading hospitals including Aster Hospital, Zulekha Hospital, and Medeor 24X7 Hospital.

With 17 years of experience, Dr. Fathima manages the full spectrum of obstetric and gynaecological conditions. She specializes in normal and high-risk pregnancies (including those complicated by hypertension, gestational diabetes, or previous Caesarean section), Caesarean deliveries, instrumental deliveries, and vaginal birth after Caesarean (VBAC). She is particularly skilled in minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques for endometriosis, fibroids, and adenomyosis, and performs complex hysteroscopic procedures. Her expertise also extends to infertility evaluation and treatment, recurrent pregnancy loss care, adolescent gynaecological health, and cancer screening.

Dr. Fathima is passionate about minimally invasive gynaecology and takes a comprehensive approach to women's health, offering preconception counselling, contraceptive advice, menopausal care, and well-woman checkups. She is a member of the Indian Medical Council, the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists, and the Federation of Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of India. She speaks Arabic, English, Hindi, and Malayalam.
