Dr. Yasdet Maldonado

Dr. Yasdet Maldonado is Division Chair of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Hospital Care Institute. She brings 18 years of clinical and leadership experience, having previously held senior roles at Cleveland Clinic and Allegheny Health Network in the United States. She earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico, completed anesthesiology residency training at The Ohio State University Medical Center, and specialized in adult cardiothoracic anesthesia through a fellowship at Allegheny Health Network.

Dr. Maldonado's clinical focus centres on anesthesia for complex surgical procedures, particularly those involving the heart and major vessels. She has also developed deep expertise in perioperative echocardiography—ultrasound imaging used during surgery to monitor heart function. Over her career, she has delivered more than 30 international lectures and authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in her field.

Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Maldonado has driven systemic improvements in operating-room efficiency and safety using quality-improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma. She serves as Associate Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University, mentoring the next generation of anesthesiologists. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and contributes to professional governance in cardiovascular anesthesia and echocardiography.
