Dr. Mukundan Gangadharan

Dr. Mukundan is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 24 years of clinical experience, including 16 years practising in Abu Dhabi. He made medical history as the first doctor in Kerala to perform intrauterine fetal blood transfusions—a pioneering procedure for treating blood incompatibility in unborn babies. Since 2007, he has built an extensive surgical track record at Medeor Hospital, performing over 1,087 keyhole (laparoscopic) operations and 1,106 open surgeries.

Dr. Mukundan specializes in complex gynaecological surgery and high-risk pregnancy care. His procedures range from minimally invasive removal of fibroids and treatment of endometriosis to advanced techniques such as microsurgical fallopian tube repair and management of ectopic pregnancies. He also leads fetal medicine cases, offering specialized ultrasound imaging (level 3), fetal heart scans, and amniocentesis for diagnostic purposes. As former Head of Fetal Medicine, he combines surgical expertise with careful antenatal assessment.

He is an active contributor to medical knowledge, having organized the Applied Genetics Seminar at the 2006 All India Conference of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which featured Prof. John Burn from the Human Genome Project.
