Dr. Walid Ahmed

Dr. Walid Ahmed is a Staff Physician in the Critical Care Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Hospital Care Institute, bringing 13 years of clinical experience. He trained in Sudan, Ireland, and the UK, completing his medical degree at the University of Khartoum followed by surgical training and anesthesiology residency in Ireland. He then pursued a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia and cardiac critical care at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, and holds advanced qualifications including a Master's degree and healthcare management certification.

Dr. Ahmed's clinical focus spans critical care medicine, perioperative care, and both pediatric and adult cardiac anesthesia. He has particular expertise in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)—a form of temporary life support for patients with severe heart or lung failure—and transesophageal echocardiography (ultrasound imaging of the heart). His experience includes managing complex surgical patients and those requiring advanced multi-organ support in intensive care settings.

He is fluent in English and Arabic and has served as a lead instructor for advanced cardiac life support training. Dr. Ahmed's background combines technical expertise in heart and lung support with a commitment to advancing care in complex surgical and critical situations.
