Dr. Amir Ahmed

Professor Amir Ahmed is a clinical professor of geriatric medicine at the University of Sharjah and a dual-certified consultant in geriatric medicine and clinical pharmacology. He has over 15 years of clinical experience across multiple hospitals in the Netherlands and specialized training at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen. He holds medical degrees from both Leiden University in the Netherlands and Russian State Medical University in Moscow, and completed his PhD at Radboud University, where his thesis focused on the clinical pharmacology of cannabis-based treatments in older people with dementia.

Professor Ahmed's clinical practice spans the full breadth of geriatric care: managing complex age-related chronic diseases, preventing falls and fractures, diagnosing and treating dementia and related behavioral problems, and addressing old-age psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, and delirium. He is particularly skilled in medication management for older people, helping to reduce harmful drug interactions and side effects—a critical issue when seniors take multiple medicines. He also performs preoperative assessments for older surgical patients and treats neurological conditions common in aging, including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery.

He is an active researcher and educator, having published in leading international journals including the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Neurology, and Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. He is a frequent speaker at national and international medical conferences.
