Dr. Ravi Trehan

Dr. Ravi Trehan is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with over 32 years of experience, currently serving as medical director of the Patient Admission and Transfer Centre and dean of research at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. Trained in the United Kingdom with additional fellowships in Germany and Austria, he brings deep expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, joint replacement, and complex trauma.

He specialises in shoulder conditions including arthroscopic repair and replacement, knee arthroscopy and knee replacement, elbow problems, and management of fractures and dislocations throughout the upper limb. Dr. Trehan was the first at SSMC to perform a robotic reverse shoulder replacement using navigation and artificial intelligence guidance. He maintains an active research portfolio and serves as co-chair of the hospital's ethics committee, ensuring evidence-based and ethical care.

Dr. Trehan is also an educator, holding adjunct associate professor positions at Khalifa University and Gulf Medical University, and serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He completed a master's degree in healthcare management from Manchester Business School and a postgraduate certificate in medical education from Cambridge University. His approach centres on patient safety and continuous improvement, making him a suitable choice for complex orthopaedic problems requiring both technical skill and coordinated care.
