Dr. Syed Imran Abbas

Dr. Syed Imran Abbas is a Specialist General Surgeon at Iranian Hospital, Dubai, with over 20 years of surgical experience. He holds a Master Surgeon credential in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery from the Surgical Review Corporation and completed his specialist training in General Surgery at Medical University in Tehran (2001–2005), followed by a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Iran Medical University (2013–2014). Before joining Iranian Hospital in 2016, he served as a Consultant General Surgeon at Zahedan Medical University and as a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon at Zanjan Medical University.

Dr. Abbas has performed more than 2,000 bariatric procedures and brings extensive expertise in keyhole (laparoscopic) weight-loss surgery, including gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and duodenal switch. He is particularly experienced in one-anastomosis gastric bypass and redo (revision) bariatric surgery. His minimally invasive skills extend to endocrine surgery, thyroid procedures (including scarless techniques), hernia repair, colorectal surgery, anti-reflux surgery, and gynecological procedures—all performed using keyhole methods when possible.

Dr. Abbas is an innovator in metabolic surgery and has developed a novel procedure combining gastric plication with ileal bypass for low-BMI diabetic patients. He serves as a master trainer in laparoscopic bariatric surgery, conducting live demonstrations and teaching workshops internationally. He is fluent in English, Persian, Urdu, and Hindi, and holds membership in the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the International Bariatric Club.
