Dr. Afef Koubaa

Dr Afef Koubaa is a nephrologist with extensive training in France and over a decade of clinical experience in the Middle East. After completing her MD at the Faculty of Medical Studies in Tunis, she pursued specialist training in nephrology at Paris 6, one of France's most prestigious medical schools, followed by advanced qualifications in dialysis and hypertension management from the University of Strasbourg. She spent four years in Paris managing patients with acute and chronic kidney failure, electrolyte imbalances, high blood pressure, diabetes, and end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis or transplant care.

Since 2011, Dr Koubaa has worked across the Middle East, bringing her expertise to Bahrain before relocating to Abu Dhabi in 2013. In the UAE, she has played a key role in developing kidney and endocrinology services, helping establish a dedicated clinic for patients with kidney disease, diabetes, and eye complications related to these conditions. Her practice covers the full spectrum of kidney care: diagnosing and treating high blood pressure, managing kidney stones, overseeing acute and chronic kidney failure, balancing electrolytes, performing and monitoring dialysis (both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis), and caring for kidney transplant patients before and after surgery.
