Dr. Kurt Schlemmer

Dr Kurt Schlemmer is a Staff Physician in the Otolaryngology (ENT) Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute. He brings 18 years of clinical experience, having trained extensively in South Africa and completed advanced fellowships across Europe in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery. Before joining Cleveland Clinic, he worked as a Consultant ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon in Abu Dhabi and led the Durban Cochlear Implant Program in South Africa.

Dr Schlemmer specialises in middle and inner ear conditions, performing tympanoplasty (eardrum repair), stapedotomy for otosclerosis (bone stiffness in the ear), and cochlear implant surgery for severe hearing loss. He also treats balance disorders such as vertigo and Meniere's disease, and manages complex conditions including cholesteatoma (skin growth in the ear) and skull base tumours. His training includes advanced microsurgical techniques learned from leading European centres.

Dr Schlemmer is an active contributor to the field, having delivered over 40 academic presentations and published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Laryngology and Otology.
