Dr. Rizwan Syed is a consultant and chair of clinical imaging at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, bringing over 23 years of experience in diagnostic and interventional imaging. He holds triple accreditation in surgery, radiology, and nuclear medicine—a rare combination that reflects his broad training across the UK and Middle East. His fellowship training includes radiology at Oxford University, interventional radiology (hepatobiliary focus) at the Royal London Hospital, and nuclear medicine at University College London Hospital.

Dr. Syed specializes in advanced imaging techniques including PET/CT, MRI, and image-guided procedures. He has a particular interest in cancer imaging (oncoradiology), theranostics (combining diagnosis and treatment), and nuclear medicine applications. He was the first to establish theradiagnostic services in the UAE—a combination of diagnostic imaging and targeted nuclear medicine therapy.
