Dr. Shaden Najeb Al Mahamed

Dr Shaden Al Mahamed is a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist with over 20 years' experience in children's digestive health. She graduated from Damascus University Medical College in Syria in 2000 and holds specialist qualifications including the MRCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK), Arab Board certification in General Paediatrics, and a fellowship in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition from Saudi Arabia. She is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai.

Dr Shaden specialises in managing a wide range of digestive, liver and nutrition disorders in children, from common problems like constipation and reflux to complex conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease and liver disease. She has performed over 1500 endoscopy procedures in children, including diagnostic examinations, therapeutic interventions such as oesophageal varices banding, foreign body removal, and management of gastrointestinal bleeding. She also manages children after liver transplant and provides specialised nutrition support including total parenteral nutrition.

Her career has spanned various tertiary hospitals and paediatric liver transplant centres across the Gulf region. She contributes to academic teaching and research in paediatric gastroenterology and has been published in international journals. She is involved in training fellowship programmes and is an active member of paediatric gastroenterology societies in the Gulf region.
