Dr. Sara Al Bastaki

Dr. Sara Al Bastaki is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based in Abu Dhabi with deep expertise in complex gastrointestinal, colorectal, abdominal wall, and pelvic floor surgery. She trained at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for her medical degree, completed visceral surgical residency in Germany, and undertook a three-year colorectal fellowship across leading centers in Germany and London. She previously worked as a Consultant Surgeon at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, where she also led the General Surgery Division.

Dr. Al Bastaki's clinical practice encompasses minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant colorectal conditions, advanced low rectal cancer management using organ-preserving techniques (TAMIS and TaTME), comprehensive piles and proctology services, and innovative keyhole approaches to pilonidal disease and complex anal fistulas (VAAFT and EPSIT). She also performs large hernia repairs, component separation surgery, and laparoscopic/robotic gallbladder removal. A particular focus is pelvic floor disorders, where she offers pelvic floor assessment, anorectal manometry, and transanal ultrasound within a dedicated multidisciplinary clinic she established at SEHA Abu Dhabi.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Al Bastaki is Founder and President of the Emirates Society of Colon & Rectal Surgery and has chaired three editions of the Emirates International Colorectal Congress, contributing to regional surgical education and collaboration.
