Dr. Fathima Almas

Dr. Fathima Almas is a radiation oncologist at American Hospital Dubai with training from leading cancer centres in India and the UK. She completed her medical degree (MBBS) at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, and trained in radiation oncology at Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital and the ESMO-accredited Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, UK, and holds Indian board certification in radiation oncology.

Dr. Almas specialises in external beam radiation therapy techniques including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), and electron beam therapy. She also performs high-dose-rate brachytherapy (internal radiation), including cylinder and intracavitary techniques. She has a particular interest in newer stereotactic techniques—stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for brain tumours and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for other sites—which allow precise delivery of high doses to small targets.

Dr. Almas works within multidisciplinary oncology teams to deliver integrated cancer care. She actively participates in tumour boards and continuing medical education focused on cancer management. She is a good fit for patients requiring radiation as part of their cancer treatment plan, whether alone or combined with surgery and chemotherapy.
