Dr. Afsal Muhammed

Dr. Afsal Muhammed is a Specialist Surgical Oncologist at Aster Hospital, Al Qusais, with 14 years of experience in cancer surgery, advanced oncological procedures, and academic medicine. He completed his MCh (Master of Chirurgiae) in Surgical Oncology at the prestigious Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, India, and holds a DNB in General Surgery, MD in Pharmacology, and MBA in Hospital and Health Care Administration. His multidisciplinary training reflects a commitment to combining surgical skill with research and healthcare leadership.

Dr. Afsal treats a broad range of cancer types including head and neck, breast, gastrointestinal, sarcoma, urological, and gynecological cancers. He performs advanced procedures such as robotic and laparoscopic cancer surgery, HIPEC (heated chemotherapy applied directly into the abdominal cavity during surgery), and organ-preserving techniques. His approach emphasizes minimally invasive methods whenever possible, reducing recovery time and complications while maintaining cancer control.

Currently serving as Assistant Professor of General Surgery at T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha, Dr. Afsal combines clinical practice with research and teaching.
