Dr. Ala Khamis Alnaqbi

Dr Ala Khamis Alnaqbi is a consultant psychiatrist with over 12 years of clinical experience in mental health. She completed her medical degree (MBBS) in 2013 from Shariah University, followed by psychiatry residency training at SKMC where she obtained her Arab Board Specialty certificate. She is the first Emirati physician to sub-specialise in schizophrenia, having completed a clinical fellowship at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre in Canada. Dr Alnaqbi also holds an executive master's degree in public administration, strengthening her understanding of healthcare systems and policy.

Her clinical expertise spans the full range of psychiatric disorders, with particular focus on schizophrenia, treatment-resistant forms of the condition, and clozapine management. She specialises in depression, anxiety disorders, and bipolar affective disorder. Dr Alnaqbi is skilled in advanced psychiatric assessment techniques including PANSS (rating scale for schizophrenia symptoms), impairment and functional assessments, psychometric testing, fitness-for-duty evaluations, foster care assessments, and semi-forensic assessments.
