Dr. Ossama Barakat

Dr. Ossama Barakat is a Consultant Endocrinologist with over two decades of experience managing diabetes, hormonal disorders and metabolic conditions. He qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London in 1999 and completed his specialist training in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Internal General Medicine at Cambridge Deanery in 2008. He has worked across leading UK teaching hospitals including Imperial College London, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and Durham University Hospital, and most recently served as Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist at Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi before joining Burjeel.

Dr. Barakat's clinical expertise spans the full range of endocrine and metabolic conditions. He manages Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, obesity and weight-related metabolic disorders, thyroid disease including thyroid problems in pregnancy, osteoporosis (weak bones), high blood pressure and high cholesterol in high-risk patients. His practice is grounded in evidence-based medicine and he has a particular research interest in diabetic eye disease.
