Dr. Hameed Raina

Dr. Hameed Raina is a Specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi, with 10 years of clinical experience. He completed his MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine from premier institutes in India, followed by a DM (specialty qualification) in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and MRCP-UK certification. After his core training, he pursued advanced fellowships in motility disorders, endoscopic ultrasound, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, and third-space endoscopy at leading centres in India, South Korea, and China.

Dr. Raina specializes in the full range of gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreaticobiliary conditions in both adults and children. He is experienced in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) for tissue sampling and therapy, capsule endoscopy for small-bowel assessment, and third-space techniques (ESD, POEM, STER) for removal of early gastrointestinal cancers. He manages acid reflux and motility disorders with endoscopic techniques, bariatric endoscopy for weight-loss support, and EUS-guided nerve blocks for cancer-related pain. He has introduced several innovative procedures to the UAE private sector, including POEM (peroral endoscopic myotomy) for achalasia and EUS-guided liver biopsy.

Dr. Raina is a keen researcher with over 50 peer-reviewed publications and multiple international awards. He is a lifetime member of major societies including the American College of Gastroenterology, European Association for the Study of the Liver, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver. He is fluent in English, Urdu, Kashmiri, and Hindi.
