Dr. Sivan Pillay Azhagappan

Dr. Sivan Pillay is a specialist anaesthetist with over 36 years of clinical experience, trained at Tanjavur Medical College in India where he completed his MBBS, Doctor of Medicine degree, internship, and anesthesiology residency. He went on to pursue fellowship training in cardiac anesthesia, developing deep expertise in managing complex cardiac cases. He is now based at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where he serves as part of the Healing Hearts Center of Excellence in Cardiac Sciences.

Dr. Pillay specializes in providing anesthesia for cardiac surgery, including complex procedures in neonates and young infants with congenital heart conditions. His clinical interests span cardiac anesthesia, pain medicine research, and paediatric cardiology. He has been actively involved in research throughout his career, presenting findings at international anesthesia society meetings and publishing on specialized cardiac surgical techniques including coronary artery bypass grafting, arterial shunt repair, and congenital heart defect correction.
