About Dr. Basemah Zaghir
Dr. Basemah Zaghir is a consultant radiologist with expertise in breast imaging. She trained in medicine at the Medical University of Baghdad before completing her postgraduate radiology training in the Netherlands, where she obtained Dutch board certification. Prior to joining Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, she worked as a consultant radiologist at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain.
Dr. Zaghir specializes in interpreting mammograms, breast ultrasound, elastography (tissue stiffness imaging), and breast MRI scans. She performs a range of minimally invasive procedures including needle biopsies of breast lesions and lymph nodes, guided cyst drainage, abscess treatment, and marker placement to help surgeons locate tumors during operations.
She is an active member of professional organizations including the Dutch Society of Radiologists, the European Society of Radiology, and the European Society of Breast Imaging, and regularly presents research at national and international conferences.
