Dr. Syed Abdur Rahman Mustafa

Dr Syed Mustafa is a Senior Interventional Radiologist with extensive experience in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. He trained in the UK for over nineteen years within the NHS, most recently at Leicester Vascular Institute and University Hospitals of Leicester—one of the largest hospital trusts in the country. He also spent two years at American Hospital Dubai. His medical degree is from Bangalore University in India, followed by surgical training before specializing in diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Dr Mustafa performs a wide range of keyhole, imaging-guided interventions across multiple organ systems: vascular procedures (angioplasty, venoplasty, fistula work), complex tumour embolization and ablation, biliary stent insertion, kidney and bone biopsies, bleeding control after trauma or childbirth, and uterine fibroid embolization. He has developed particular expertise in venous access and venous recanalisation techniques, and is skilled in advanced embolization including chemotherapy-infused and radioactive particle delivery directly to tumours.

Dr Mustafa is committed to patient safety and quality improvement—he led vascular access initiatives and reviewed complications at Leicester. He is an educator, having supervised radiology trainees and taught at Royal College courses in the UK and internationally. He participates in research and has numerous international presentations and publications.
