Dr. Alan Kourie

Dr. Alan Kourie is Head of the Sports Medicine Department at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, where he oversees a multidisciplinary team. He spent eight years with the South African Rugby Union as Team Physician and Head of Medical for the Natal Sharks, a Super Rugby competition team. His clinical foundation includes early experience at Mediclinic City Hospital Dubai, where he was among the first doctors employed when it opened in 2008 and helped establish the Emergency Department.

Dr. Kourie treats the full spectrum of sports injuries and conditions in athletes of all levels—professional, recreational, and those starting exercise programs. He has advanced expertise in concussion management and uses exercise as a therapeutic tool for chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, offering individualised, sustainable exercise prescriptions for weight management and general wellbeing. His approach combines elite-level sports knowledge with evidence-based injury prevention and management strategies.
