Dr. Shair Ahmed

Dr. Shair Ahmed is a Staff Physician in the Thoracic Surgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Heart, Vascular, & Thoracic Institute. He brings 19 years of clinical experience, having trained at leading academic medical centers in the United States before relocating to the UAE. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Ahmed completed advanced cardiothoracic surgery fellowship training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he served as Administrative Chief Fellow in his final year—a recognition of his leadership and clinical excellence. He specializes in lung transplantation, video-assisted thoracic surgery (minimally invasive keyhole chest surgery), and the surgical management of chest wall deformities, lung cancer, esophageal and stomach cancer, and conditions affecting the space between the lungs and heart.

With experience at major US thoracic centers including Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and the Norton Thoracic Institute in Phoenix, Dr. Ahmed is well-suited for patients requiring complex thoracic surgical procedures, particularly those needing lung transplants or minimally invasive approaches to chest conditions.
