Dr. Wesam Ahmed

Dr. Wesam Ahmed is Division Chair of Medical Oncology at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Cancer Institute, leading the institution's hematology and oncology programs. With more than 25 years of clinical and research experience, he is recognized internationally for his expertise in treating complex blood cancers and bone marrow transplantation. He completed his medical degree at Menoufia University in Egypt, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Brown University and advanced fellowships in Hematology and Oncology at Tufts Medical Center and Cancer Immunology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute under Harvard Medical School. He also earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr. Ahmed's clinical focus includes acute and chronic leukemias (including acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia), lymphomas (Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin), multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, and myelodysplastic syndromes. He has treated hundreds of patients undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplantation and has published extensively in leading medical journals. He is a frequent invited speaker at international conferences and universities.

Fluent in English and Arabic, Dr. Ahmed previously led the Division of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Cleveland Clinic Florida and served as Medical Director of Cellular Therapy at Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. He is particularly suited for patients requiring complex blood cancer treatment, stem cell transplantation, or cellular therapy in an academic medical centre setting.
