Dr. Catherine Makura

Dr Catherine Makura is a consultant anaesthetist with over 17 years of experience. She trained at the University of Zimbabwe Medical School, where she obtained her medical degree (MBChB) and Diploma in Anaesthetics, before moving to the UK in 2001. There she completed her specialist training and was awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Anaesthesia, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA). She has practised in the UAE since 2016.

Dr Makura provides anaesthesia for a broad range of surgical procedures in both adults and children. Her particular areas of focus include surgery for weight loss (bariatric surgery), bone and joint surgery (orthopaedics), and complicated pregnancies and childbirth (high-risk obstetric cases). She also has extensive experience with trauma surgery, urological procedures, bowel surgery (colorectal), upper gastrointestinal, ear nose and throat, and facial surgery. She is especially interested in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programmes, which help patients recover more quickly by reducing pain and complications.
