Dr. Jihad Mallat

Dr. Jihad Mallat is a Staff Physician in the Critical Care Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where he leads the Medical/Surgical Critical Care section. He holds a medical degree from the University of Lille II in France and completed specialized training in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine at the University Hospital of Lille, followed by a fellowship in critical care medicine. With 30 years of clinical experience, he brings deep expertise in managing the most acutely ill patients.

Before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mallat worked as a consultant in critical care and anesthesiology at major French hospitals including Lens Hospital and Arras Hospital. He is certified by the French Board of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine and holds additional subspecialty certification in medical critical care. His clinical practice encompasses invasive and non-invasive heart monitoring, kidney support through dialysis and filtration, emergency ultrasound of the heart, and medication-based sedation for ventilated patients. He manages conditions including acute respiratory distress syndrome and septic shock—life-threatening emergencies requiring intensive monitoring and support.

Dr. Mallat is also a Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. He has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing critical care medicine through research and education.
