Dr. Sudeshna Byng

Dr. Sudeshna Byng is an emergency medicine consultant at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, where she has practised since the hospital's establishment. She trained in the UK and brings nearly two decades of experience in emergency care, having worked across hospitals in the United Kingdom and the Middle East, including Al Mafraq Hospital and the American Hospital in the UAE.

Dr. Byng holds specialist credentials from the Royal College of Surgeons and is a fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. Beyond clinical work, she serves as the medical lead for disaster medicine at SSMC and is a core faculty member training the next generation of emergency medicine doctors. She completed a Master's degree in Disaster Medicine from CRIMEDIM/VUP (Italy/Belgium), reflecting her deep commitment to emergency preparedness and response.

She is particularly passionate about patient safety, preventative medicine, and physician wellbeing — areas reflected in her research on burnout among doctors and trainees.
