Dr. Usama Albastaki

Dr. Usama Albastaki is Chair of Medical Imaging at Dubai Health and brings over 20 years of experience in radiology within the UAE. He trained at leading institutions, earning his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and his Swedish Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology from Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. He has also completed a Master's degree in Innovation Management from Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government.

Dr. Albastaki specializes in emergency and cardiac imaging, with a particular focus on integrating artificial intelligence into diagnostic radiology and national screening programs. He has led major national healthcare initiatives, including the UAE's national radiology referral guidelines project, which was selected as a government accelerator in 2023 to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient safety. His work has been recognized with the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for the Best Public Sector Medical Department in 2020 when he led Rashid Hospital's Diagnostic Imaging department.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Albastaki serves as Clinical Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University, where he trains the next generation of radiologists. He is General Secretary and former President of the Radiology Society of the Emirates, where he has been instrumental in establishing international-standard radiology conferences and raising the UAE's profile in global radiology.
