Dr. Amr El Shawarbi (ID*)

Dr. Amr El Shawarbi is a German board-certified neurosurgeon with over 25 years of international experience. He relocated to the UAE in 2006 and has held key leadership positions, including Head of Neurosurgery and Medical Director at several major hospitals. His work has shaped neurosurgery in the region—he established SEHA's first stroke program, developed pediatric neurosurgery services, and pioneered neuromodulation initiatives. Before moving to the UAE, he was a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the prestigious International Neuroscience Institute in Hannover, Germany.

Dr. El Shawarbi specializes in complex spine surgery using minimally invasive techniques, including anterior, lateral, and posterior approaches to the spine. He also performs skull base (cranial) surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, and pediatric neurosurgery. His expertise covers microsurgical spine operations, spinal trauma management, and spinal instrumentation—procedures requiring exceptional precision and experience.

He is highly engaged in the neurosurgery community, having served as President of the Emirates Neuroscience Society, Honorary President of the Pan Arab Neurosurgical Society, and second Vice President of the World Federation of Neuroscience Societies. Dr. El Shawarbi is also a prolific researcher and international speaker, regularly presenting and publishing important research at national and international conferences.
