Dr. Joe Marais

Dr. Joe Marais is a Consultant Rhinologist and Nasal Plastic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in ear, nose and throat surgery. He trained as a medical student in South Africa and completed his junior medical training in London at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, followed by registrar and senior registrar posts in Edinburgh. He obtained his Intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in 1996 and undertook subspecialist fellowship training in rhinology in Texas, USA and Toronto, Canada. He recently relocated to Dubai in 2025 after practising on the UK National Health Service since 2000, with appointments at Northwick Park Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital in London.

Dr. Marais specialises in nasal and sinus conditions, functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), and paediatric ear, nose and throat problems. He has particular expertise in treating snoring, allergy-related nasal issues, septal surgery, sinusitis and nasal polyps. As a specialist rhinologist, he receives many complex tertiary referrals from other ENT surgeons for difficult and challenging cases. He has taught postgraduate trainees at the Royal College of Surgeons and presented at international medical conferences. He has also worked as an expert witness in medico-legal cases.

Dr. Marais is a registered member of ENT-UK and the European Rhinology Society, and holds allied associate membership of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons. He is well-suited for patients requiring specialist nasal and sinus surgery, those seeking cosmetic nasal procedures, and families needing paediatric ENT care.
