Dr. Ida Laila Amir

Dr. Ida Amir is an experienced ENT consultant trained in the UK, with advanced subspecialist expertise in ear disorders and hearing implants. She graduated from Manchester University and completed her otolaryngology training in Scotland, earning her Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Certificate of Completion of Training. She undertook additional fellowship training in New Zealand in otology, neurotology and cochlear implants, bringing cutting-edge international experience to her practice.

Before moving to the UAE, Dr. Amir worked as an NHS ENT consultant in Glasgow, home to the largest ENT department in the UK. She re-established and led the otology service for North Glasgow, managing complex ear conditions and hearing disorders. Her expertise spans ear infections and discharge problems, hearing loss and tinnitus, middle ear surgery, hearing implants (including cochlear implants and bone-conduction devices), balance disorders, and sinus conditions. She performs both traditional and minimally invasive endoscopic ear surgery, as well as procedures to improve hearing such as ossicle repair and stapes surgery.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Amir is passionate about training the next generation of ear, nose and throat surgeons. She is GMC-accredited to supervise specialist trainees and teaches temporal bone dissection courses. She also serves as faculty for FRCS exam preparation. Her research interests are substantial—she holds an MSc in Clinical Trials and has led research projects including serving as Principal Investigator for the UK-wide STARFISH trial.
