Dr. Katie Sweeting

Dr. Katie Sweeting is a consultant palliative medicine physician with over two decades of clinical experience. She qualified from King's College London in 2000 and specialised in palliative medicine in the UK, where she held consultant posts in acute hospitals, community settings, and hospices. She is an accredited educator and mentor actively involved in developing palliative care teaching programmes for medical and nursing students in both the UK and UAE.

Dr. Sweeting's clinical expertise centres on managing complex physical symptoms in patients with serious illnesses including cancer, providing emotional support to patients and their families, and advance care planning at the end of life. She established the palliative care service at Mediclinic City hospital's comprehensive cancer centre in 2019 and currently works as a consultant supportive and palliative medicine physician across multiple Mediclinic locations in Abu Dhabi.

She is a strong advocate for involving patients and families in medical decision-making, particularly during end-of-life discussions. As a founder member of the UAE palliative care working group within the Emirates Oncology Society, she is helping to develop and expand palliative care services and education across the region.
