Dr. Bassil Khalil Al Zamkan

Dr. Bassil Al-Zamkan is a cardiothoracic surgeon with over 31 years of international experience across Germany, the UAE, and the GCC region. He trained in Berlin at Charité University and holds German board certifications in both cardiac and thoracic surgery. He has performed more than 4,500 cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including over 3,000 operations with cardiopulmonary bypass support.

His clinical expertise covers advanced bypass surgery for blocked coronary arteries, heart valve repair and replacement, complex aortic surgery, minimally invasive techniques, lung cancer surgery, and management of critically ill patients on heart-lung support (ECMO). Dr. Al-Zamkan is particularly recognised as a leading specialist in chest wall reconstruction, treating conditions like pectus excavatum (sunken chest) and pectus carinatum (protruding chest), rib fractures, and complex chest wall trauma in both adults and children. He is the first and only surgeon in the Middle East performing the advanced minimally invasive Taulinoplasty technique for chest deformity correction.
