Dr. Mohamed Elsamman Ahmed is Head of the ICU department at Burjeel Farha, Al Ain, with 15 years of experience in critical care medicine. He holds a Master's degree in Critical Care Medicine, MRCP certification (Parts I and II), and specialized training in Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine from the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). His career spans seven years at Gama Hospital's ICU in Saudi Arabia and earlier training as an ICU/CCU resident in Egypt.
Dr. Elsamman specializes in resuscitating and managing critically ill patients, including those with multi-organ failure, sepsis, and severe respiratory conditions. He performs a wide range of ICU procedures—central lines, arterial lines, chest drains, dialysis access catheters, temporary pacing wires, and advanced airway management including tracheostomy assistance. He has particular expertise in mechanical ventilation, kidney injury management in critical illness, and end-of-life care.
He has a special interest in pulmonary medicine and respiratory failure, including ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), life-threatening asthma and COPD, severe pneumonia, and fluid around the lungs. In 2011, he received the Best Therapeutic Research Award from the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) for his work on ventilated patients with ARDS, presented at their Critical Care Congress in San Diego.
