Dr. Ibraheem El-Ghrably

Dr. Ibraheem El-Ghrably is a Staff Physician in the Ophthalmology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute. He brings 33 years of clinical experience, including 7 years as a Consultant Retina Specialist at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, UK, where he also served as a Royal College Tutor and Educational Supervisor for trainee doctors. He chaired the Research and Development Division of Surgery at JCUH and represented ophthalmology on the North East Local Eye Health Network.

Dr. El-Ghrably specializes in medical and surgical retinal disorders and has performed over 3,000 cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implants) and nearly 800 vitreoretinal procedures. He is an active researcher with a PhD from Nottingham University (2000) and was principal investigator for several clinical trials, including the MERLOT study comparing treatments for wet age-related macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness. He has published extensively and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.

Dr. El-Ghrably is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology (UK), a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and serves on Euretina. He holds advisory board positions with several pharmaceutical companies and is committed to teaching and training the next generation of eye specialists.
