About Dr. John Douglas Ferguson
Dr John Ferguson is a Specialist in Aviation Medicine with over two decades of experience in occupational health. He qualified in Medicine at Aberdeen University in Scotland and completed General Practice training before working in Australia and the UAE. Since joining Emirates Airline in 2004, he has built deep expertise in aviation medicine and occupational health, obtaining specialist qualifications in the UK.
Dr Ferguson has been instrumental in developing aviation medicine services across the UAE. He serves as a Senior Aeromedical Examiner and Medical Review Officer for the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the regulator responsible for aviation safety in the UAE. He is an approved instructor who trains other doctors in aviation medicine and led the establishment of the first aeromedical examination centre in the UAE—a major milestone for the country's aviation infrastructure.
