Dr. Mohammed Istarabadi

Dr. Mohammed Istarabadi is a Consultant Urologist and General Surgeon at Medcare Hospital Sharjah with over 35 years of clinical experience. He trained in Dublin, Ireland, where he completed his medical degree (MBBCh) and specialized in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery before moving to Albany, New York, to train in urological surgery. He is fellowship-trained (FRCSI) and American Board certified in urology, and currently serves as Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Sharjah.

Dr. Istarabadi has performed more than 2,500 urological operations and pioneered laser lithotripsy technology in the UAE and Gulf region. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic and laser surgery for kidney stones, prostate enlargement, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and urinary tract problems. His background in general and cardiothoracic surgery also enables him to manage emergency vascular cases and chest conditions such as collapsed lung (pneumothorax). He is skilled in urological cancer surgery, hormone therapy for prostate cancer, and treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Istarabadi treats both adults and children and is known for his compassionate, holistic approach. He is an active researcher and speaker at international conferences including the World Congress of Endourology and the British Thoracic Society, with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
