Dr. Ali Al Shidi

Dr. Ali Al Shidi is Chair of the Department of Critical Care and an internal medicine consultant at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. With 14 years of experience, he has built expertise across general internal medicine, acute medicine, and critical care—treating patients from the emergency department through intensive care units.

Dr. Al Shidi gained prominence as a frontline physician during the COVID-19 pandemic, working for two years at a high-volume hospital in Al Ain managing patients across all floors including ICUs during periods of extreme demand. He oversaw physician scheduling for admission wards and was instrumental in pandemic response efforts. He holds specialist qualifications including a Specialty Certificate in Acute Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (UK), a Critical Care Fellowship from Queen's University (Canada), and Internal Medicine credentials from Oman and the Royal College of Physicians (London).

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Al Shidi is committed to training and mentoring. He has spent the past five years teaching medical students and residency trainees, with a focus on non-technical skills and multidisciplinary best-practice rounds. He previously served as Quality Chair Assistant for internal medicine at a SEHA tertiary hospital.
