Dr. Alexandra Economacos

Dr Alexandra Economacos is a Consultant Breast Radiologist at Mediclinic City Hospital with over 30 years of medical experience. She completed her medical training at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1992, followed by specialist qualifications in anesthesia and radiology. Since arriving in Dubai in 2008, she has been instrumental in establishing the first dedicated breast imaging unit at Mediclinic City Hospital, bringing advanced diagnostic and interventional techniques to the region.

Dr Economacos offers a comprehensive range of breast imaging services, including digital mammography with 3D imaging (tomosynthesis), contrast-enhanced mammography, ultrasound, and MRI. She performs image-guided interventions such as needle biopsies, vacuum-assisted biopsies, and localisation procedures to help diagnose breast conditions without unnecessary surgery. Her work focuses on providing personalised treatment planning through accurate diagnosis and minimally invasive techniques.

Beyond clinical practice, she is deeply committed to education and training. She regularly presents at international congresses and is involved in teaching medical students and supervising research projects through Mohammed Bin Rashid University. She has been instrumental in establishing multidisciplinary team meetings that bring together specialists to discuss complex cases and maintain international best-practice standards.
