Dr. Melanie Schlatter

Dr Melanie Schlatter is a clinical health psychologist with a PhD from the University of Auckland and extensive training in the psychology of health, disease and treatment. Based in Dubai for many years, she combines specialist qualifications in psychology, pharmacology and rehabilitation with deep expertise in how emotional and psychological factors affect physical health and recovery.

Dr Schlatter helps adults cope with a wide range of emotional difficulties including stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and grief. She has particular expertise in supporting cancer patients through diagnosis, surgery, and the side effects of treatments like radiotherapy and chemotherapy. She also helps people navigate lifestyle changes and the family challenges that arise when facing serious illness. Her doctoral research focused on the psychoneuroimmunology of breast cancer — how the mind and immune system interact in cancer — and she actively runs psychosocial support groups for cancer patients.

With past university teaching experience and publications in leading international journals, Dr Schlatter brings both clinical skill and research-informed practice to her work.
