Dr. Alessandro Terruzzi

Dr. Alessandro Terruzzi is a consultant neurologist and Head of Neurology at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai. He trained in Italy, completing his medical degree in 2002 and specialist neurology training in 2008 at the University of Medicine and Surgery of Milano-Bicocca, where he also earned a Master's Degree in Cerebrovascular Diseases. He is an expert in neurosonology—the use of ultrasound to assess blood vessels in and around the brain—with particular skill in carotid and vertebral artery assessment and transcranial Doppler imaging.

Dr. Terruzzi manages a wide range of adult neurological conditions including stroke, migraine and complex headaches, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, infections affecting the nervous system, dementia, and neurodegenerative disorders. His main clinical focus is comprehensive stroke care, from emergency treatment to long-term prevention, and the diagnosis and management of difficult-to-treat headache disorders including migraine and raised intracranial pressure. He directs the AHA-certified Comprehensive Stroke Centre at Mediclinic, developing advanced treatment pathways and multidisciplinary care models.

Since 2020, Dr. Terruzzi has held an appointment as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he contributes to medical education and clinical training. He is an active member of international neurology and stroke organizations, including the European Stroke Organisation, World Organization of Neurosonology, and World Stroke Organization.
