Dr. Charles Ahene

Dr. Charles Ahene is a Staff Physician in the Anesthesiology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, bringing 36 years of anesthesia experience across multiple continents. He trained at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC, completed a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and holds board certifications from the American Board of Anesthesia and the American Board of Echocardiography. He is licensed to practice in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and Kentucky in the United States.

Dr. Ahene specializes in providing anesthesia care for complex heart operations, vascular surgery, organ transplantation, and general anesthesia. He was instrumental in establishing the Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Surgical Services at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. His career includes leadership roles as Director of Cardiac Anesthesia and Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he trained resident physicians, and prior service as a Consultant Anesthesiologist at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
